And why it’s hard to love.
focusing on personal growth has got to be the most challenging lessons this year has brought. but here’s what i’ve taken from it:
real growth is raw, brutal, frustrating and almost feels impossible.
it’s taking 10 steps in the right direction just to be pulled back to 6. (which is still better than 0). but setbacks are just as important – they build resilience and the ability to continuously grow. it’s a never ending process.
hurt feelings are always followed by healing and growth!!! read that again.
the price you have to pay for growth is not fun at all. it’s extremely lonely and exhausting. it’s understanding no one can help you do this but yourself. it takes a certain level of honesty with yourself – things you need to change and habits to replace.
it is so full filling when you catch your negative thoughts and actions and reform your way of thinking. it means all that work and pain you went through is paying off – slowly but it’s there.
your self love and want for self growth must be stronger than your desires to feel wanted, appreciated and understood by other people (because truth of the matter is no one can fill that void for you expect yourself!) stop wasting your energy on wanting to be loved and understood by others , but instead love and learn to understand yourself.
in order to heal you can’t hate or be mad at the experiences and people who’ve shaped you. acceptance is key in understanding how you project pain into your life. turn it into lessons – not burdens. (hurt feelings are always followed by healing and growth)
and lastly – it’s really all about yourself. let yourself be consumed with the selfish desire to succeed for YOURSELF. it’s your life – don’t let outside parties dictate what you want to make of it. so find joy in doing things on your own and don’t be afraid of the idea of outgrowing people (not everyone moves in the same pace)
once you realize all you need is yourself – amazing changes will occur and you will have an abundance of gratitude towards all.
ps) i hope you never stop growing in this lifetime 🌱
